Detox and Allergy stories coming in the MarchApril Herbal Collective
By Marilyn Zink
I’ve recuperated from exhibiting at the Victoria Health Show, held Jan. 24-25. Thank you to those of you who stopped by my booth to say hello. I shared the booth with Don Ollsin of Herbal Healing Pathway and that worked out well since we were able to take breaks, which allowed me time to interview people like Dr. Terry Willard, Lorna Vanderhage and Brad King.
Dr. Terry Willard operates Wild Rose Clinic and is director of Wild Rose College in Calgary, Alberta. He is also known for the Wild Rose Detox program and our interview with him on detoxing/cleansing will appear in the upcoming March/April,’09 issue of The Herbal Collective.
We will also be looking at allergies in the March/April’09 issue as allergies are closely related to a toxic body. When people detox, they often greatly reduce or even eliminate their allergies and the toxic load has been lifted from their bodies.
Coincedentally, people often lose weight while detoxing and that is often a good way to jumpstart a weight loss program. This works because you become more conscious of what you eat and often have to eliminate certain foods while detoxing - foods like dairy, sugar, meat, flour products and anything processed. These are often the foods that made us fat in the first place.
Another reason people lose weight while detoxing is because the liver (which has 600 functions and processes our toxins) gets a good cleaning so now it can work more efficently and get your metabolism working better.
Finally, the colon gets a good cleaning as well so now it operates more efficently and your body is less likely to hold on to toxins and this aids in the weight loss process too. You will feel better and so much more alive when you are finished.

Women’s Health and Men’s Health
The interviews I did with Lorna Vanderhaege and Brad King will naturally fit into our May/June09 issue. That’s because our theme is on women’s health and men’s health. Lorna is an expert on women’s health issues and has released a new book titled ‘Sexy Hormones.’
Brad King is an expert on men’s health and talks about ‘male menopause’ (andropause) in his new book Beer Belly Blues, ‘Becoming the Ultimate Male. Again.’ The book is an entertaining and informative look at the aging man and what the women in his life need to know.
