Keep those Energy Levels Strong
By Marilyn Zink
I know it’s important to keep your energy levels strong. But sometimes I forget and I do too much.
This hit home to me after I spent a particularly busy weekend. I stayed up late Friday, got up early to lead a kayaking group on Saturday, had company over Saturday night, then got up early again on Sunday to help out at church and spent the day doing too much. By Monday morning I was feeling low.
One of our readers, Cathy S., told me that 2 cups of Epsom salts in a bath can help clear energy fields. We sometimes unknowingly take on the energy levels of others which can also result in us feeling low. I would add that essential oils such as lavender and geranium can be added to the bath.
Geranium is a great balancing oil and lavender is a great calming oil. Both work together to bring your body back to balance.
When we keep our energy levels strong, we avoid getting sick. When your energy levels are strong, you have energy to accomplish all sorts of things. Your energy levels will help you achieve your most important accomplishments. So doesn’t it make sense to keep those energy levels strong?
It also starts with good nutrition. I believe in starting the day with a healthy breakfast.
I know, not everyone eats breakfast, for a variety of reasons. But if you had something simple, delicious and healthy, wouldn’t you want to eat breakfast?
Herbs and spices can be used to make many foods taste great and are healthier for you, so you avoid all the saturated fat, sugar and salt in unhealthy foods.
Next week I’ll give you a simple recipe you can make to get a good start on your day.

Don’t take a bath in chlorinated water though! Dehydration is also a common cause of fatigue. Watermelon is awesome this time of year and packed with minerals, water and electrolytes to keep our energy levels up as well as detoxifying a bit.
My favorite breakfast these days which is great for energy:
-Chia (soak seeds in water to make gel and keep it in the fridge)
-raw cacao
-agave
-frozen bananas
-bit of water–just add as much as you like–I like mine more like pudding but if you want to drink it just use more
Blend and enjoy. That’s it. 2 minute breakfast!
