A Common Cause for Headaches
By Marilyn Zink
As I write this, I am suffering from a headache.
I know why too. Or at least, I suspect I know why I have this headache.
There are many causes for headaches and I won’t be listing them all here. But what I will do is tell you about some reasons for headaches.
Chief among those is stress. Stress from doing too much activity can be a common culprit for headache sufferers. Lack of sleep can also cause headaches.
Then there is food. Eating too much food, eating spicy food or eating food that you may be susceptible too can all cause a headache.
I am guilty as charged on all three counts.
That’s because I went to a camp-out on the long weekend (B.C. Day weekend) where I stayed up too late, tried to do too much, ate too much, ate spicy food and probably ate something I was susceptible to. It was fun but it all left me feeling a little worn out. And the body also felt toxic.
So what have I done about it? I have been drinking more water all day to help my body flush the toxins.
I have also been taking a greens supplement which contains spirulina, a probiotic that is good for the intestines and herbs for the liver, like milk thistle and burdock.
Most people don’t realize it, but headaches are linked to an overloaded liver and stress on the digestive system.
When trying to detox the body, the key is to take it easy and avoid strenuous exercise. It’s a good idea to eat lightly too.
Finally, I’m going to bed early tonight to give my body a chance to rest and repair.
By morning, I should be feeling well rested, refreshed and headache free.
