As every Canadian knows, when you get a chance to see the Snowbirds perform in action, you don’t want to miss it.

The Snowbirds, a Canadian aerial team, performed over the skies of our fair city just the other evening. I have seen the Snowbirds perform before, but I still get a thrill out of seeing their aerial acrobats. This time I took my two children, who had their first viewing of the team of nine planes.

The Snowbirds show team is a Canadian icon which consists of serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces. Their show is the result of six months of intensive preparation and training, consisting of as many as 50 formations and manoeuvers.

Hordes of people came out to see them perform next to the waterfront in our city.  There were cars parked everywhere and people on the dock, the waterfront, in the mall parking lot and on top of the mall, which conveniently has rooftop parking.

The Snowbirds performance was in support of Child - Children with Intestinal and Liver Disorders Foundation, to encourage donations for their cause. The organization raises funds for medical research into Crohn’s Disease, ulcerative colitis, and liver disorders in children.

As someone who has suffered from Irritable Bowel syndrome, IBS, I can tell you it’s no fun for children who suffer and react to the food they eat. If you would like to support CHILD, simply visit their website at www.child.ca.
