How Herbs can help solve issues
By Marilyn Zink
Years ago when I experienced asthma, I first started using herbs medicinally. At the time I didn’t know a whole lot about how herbs work (we’re talking about 16 years ago).
Sometimes I was frustrated because the herbal products I used didn’t work very well. But maybe I might have expected instant results.
Herbs are powerful plant medicines, but they don’t work like drugs. Herbs may sometimes take longer to work because they are working at the cellular level, nourishing and treating organs and glands.
This is a good thing, because herbs work to heal the body and reverse the issues that caused the condition.
But sometimes herbs work quicly too, and improvement can be noticed in 3-6 days. That doesn’t mean the underlying condition goes away or is ‘cured’ in that time.
Nourishing the body, cleansing it of toxins and supporting the body with a healthy diet all help it to heal.
It’s like cleaning a house. It’s hard to keep the house clean when you keep tracking dirt in.
Likewise, it’s hard to heal the body when you keep bringing in junk food. Herbs work better when they don’t have to work through the effects of excess junk food.
Understanding how herbs work on the body is one way to deal with any frustrations in using them.
