New Year’s and Natural Health for 2010

So here we are, on the eve of New Year’s.

What changes will 2010 bring for the natural health industry?

Will a flu pandemic such as the H1N1 virus still make the news?

The H1N1 virus was voted the top news story of 2009 with more than 400 people throughout Canada dying from the virus.

Government officials tried to convince the public that everyone should ge the flu shot but latest reports were that only 25-30% of the population got the jab.
That left many others who decided that it wasn’t serious enough to bother with or they were concerned abut side effects from the shot.

So that brings us back to the natural health industry. Was the H1N2 pandemic evidence that more people were turning to natural health remedies to deal with the virus?

Judging by the search results from keyword phrases such as H1N1 virus, (317,000)H1N1 flu (669,00), H1N1 prevention (596,000), H1N1 natural treatments (2,130,000), I would say that many people were looking for alternatives to drugs and needles.

But the real point is awareness. Awareness that people need to be responsible for their health and take action when they start to feel symptoms that would lead to an illness.

An awareness also of healthy living, eating healthy foods, less sugar and saturated fat, utilizing herbs for better health, as well as sleeping better and exercising more.

So, on the brink of a New Year, I wonder what health lessons we have learned from the H1N1 pandemic.

I hope we have learned to be more aware and responsible for our health. To take the remedial steps we need to, to protect our health and that of our families.

I find that greater awareness leads to greater responsibility and greater health.

So, I’m hoping that the H1n1 does not rear its ugly head again. I’m hoping that more people will take the steps they need to take to protect their health.

So for 2010 I’m looking forward to a healthier year.

To that end, we want to help people achieve that goal in our new site, www.herbguide.ca.
